Happy All-Most-Proposal Day!

Call me a romantic, but I like to see the blooming flowers that were at the art museum lagoon every year.  After all, they were blooming when I was proposed to!
To celebrate, we take a picnic dinner and eat it down at the lagoon.  I was proposed to on May 9th, but this year we went a week early to celebrate, because the trees were beginning to lose their flowers.
See that spot way over on the other side of the lake?  Behind that black statue is where the magic took place!
Of course, what picnic would be complete without your cute dog!
                               Our family!
It was still a gorgeous night!  The trees were blooming all over in diferent shades of pink, purple, and white.
After dinner, we took a stroll around the lake, where we ran in to all sorts of creatures.  This turtle was getting some last minute rays before the sun set.
The lagoon has hundred of those little fist, and some randomly extra large koi fish too!
It was such a nice night that we went over to the botanical gardins, and found this delicious smelling shrub!  I want one.
Anybody know what kind of plant this is?
The botanical gardens had tulips galore!  This was a very pretty combination of bright orange and bright purple.
And this was gorgeois around the walkway!
This photo doesn't do these justice.  This was an almost florescent mix of bright pink and bright yellow-orange.  They must not have any deer to eat their tulips!

What a fun night!  Until next year...

Earth Day

We had a very busy Earth Day this year.  It started early, when I went to Penitentiary Glen. They had an Earth Day celebration, complete with $10 haircuts that the proceeds benefited the park.  I was desperately in need of a trim, so this is the main reason I went.
While I was waiting, I made a recycling shrinky dink, and planted a sprue tree in a newspaper pot i made. I also walked around the wildlife center and looked at lots of beautiful rescue birds.

When I got home Robb planned a surprise date for us.  Our first stop was the zoo!  They had all kinds of Earth Day activities going on.  We walked around the rainforest, watched an herb garden cooking demonstration, planted some peas in a newspaper pot, and got a ride up the big hill to see the primates and big cats.  The highlight of the day was right as the zoo was closing, and we were walking out past the lions. The big cats were up and about (a rare sight, they're usually sunbathing) and a female lion was standing right next to the glass! We were like 5 inches from her! She was WAY bigger than I ever imagined, and so beautiful.

After the zoo Robb took me to a restaurant for appetizers, that he found specially for me! It was a guacamole restaurant called Momocho, http://www.momocho.com/
I got pineapple/habanero guac, it was spicy, sweet, and delicious!
To cool off my mouth, I got a margarita sampler with regular, cucumber/chili, and pineapple.  The cucumber chili was incredible.
We like the place so much, we stayed for dinner. What a fun day!

Lots Of Flowers

Spring is here! And so are the flowers.
Robb got me these beautiful two-toned roses, which smelled so sweet.
Then I went for a drive down on MLK to see the daffodils.
I love how there's are SO many, randomly planted everywhere.  The really brighten up a dingy street.
I think that it's so cool how they are the only thing bright and colorful, when the rest of the plant world is still waking up from winter.

Happy Spring! Here's to hoping for not a hot summer. Stay spring and go right to fall!

Guacamole Face

I forgot how soothing and moisturizing avocado can be...
I had this almost bad avocado, smashed it up and put it on my face tonight. Avocado is SO good for your insides and out. My skin has been going haywire, and with all my treatments and exfoliation, my face is always feeling harsh. Tonight it's been soothed and deeply moisturized. One episode of Star Trek, a nice warm wash, and you could hear my skin say, ahhhhhhhh. I highly recommend this. Add some honey (I was out) for extra smoothness. Gotta love those avocados!

Taste of Summer

I cracked open this long saved bottle of Airship White tonight. This is probably my all time favorite white wine. It's completely "grapey" because of the delicious Niagara Grapes. I found this wine on a wine tasting along Senaca Lake in the Fingerlakes with my good friend BriAnne. Sipping on this sweet cool summer wine reminds me of good times and happy memories. Yum!

Good Bye Eggshelland

I've been going to Eggshelland since I was a kid. This Easter was the last year.
It's hard to believe they've been decorating for 55 years!
This is Ron, who died last August at 80 years old. He actually drove our bus back in the day. His wife and family decorated one last time.
The lawn said, thank you and goodbye.
This traditional bunny is made from 2266 eggs! Can you imagine hollowing out and painting all those eggs?!
Pretty Spring flowers.
This cutie little owl was one of my favorites this year.
Goodbye Eggshelland! Thank for the years of beautiful eggs!
