Koby's Beach

We had a nice path behind our campsite that lead down to the Little Beaver River. This was our only salvation on the 90* afternoons. Plus in this area, dogs didn't need to be on a leash. (This is where we were playing chuck-it. The only problem was we couldn't find a path to get down to the riverbank. But, Koby could. He just went off, and found a little path that we didn't see that took us to our own private beach! Here's what we did at "Koby's beach!"
First thing Koby did was jump right in! He loves to fetch, but isn't the best swimmer. He can swim, but when he gets whatever he's fetching in his mouth, he squeaks and inhales water, which causes him to cough. This is what he does almost every time he fetches in the water. Even still, he really loves to fetch, so he goes again, and again, and again...
Now he wants to go again!!! The chuck-it ball was the worst at getting water in his mouth.
We bought him a life jacket before we went to Maine for a few reasons. The first, is for when we go in a canoe, if we tipped over in a lake, Koby would panic if his head went under. So the life jacket would prevent that, and give him some buoyancy while we figured out what to do. Secondly, to help him fetch the ball making him more floaty so he didn't get water in his mouth when he fetches something. This was the perfect spot to teach him to use it. He did pretty good, but I think he was already tired out from fetching before. He was funny because he tried to get up, but he had the feeling that the life jacket made him heavy, so Robb had to go over and grab his handle to stand him up. It's light as a feather, and was all in his mind. Kind of like how he gets "frozen" if you put a shirt on him. It was pretty funny!Koby then just sat down and found a stick to chew on!
Here's our beautiful boy on the beach!
